The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted a hot and dry spell across the country during the Eid ul Fitr holidays, with no significant weather changes expected.
According to PMD officials, continental air will dominate most regions, keeping the weather dry in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other parts of the country. The plains are likely to experience intense heat during the holidays, as no rain-bearing system is expected to bring relief.
Islamabad is set to remain hot and dry over the next 12 hours. Most districts in Balochistan will experience elevated temperatures, while Punjab is likely to witness strong winds. Similarly, Sindh will stay dry, with gusty winds in certain areas.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper districts may see partly cloudy skies, whereas dry weather is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Temperatures are projected to rise from April 4, with highs reaching around 39ยฐC.
Chief Meteorologist Muhammad Afzal has also predicted a significant temperature surge in the coming months, particularly in metropolitan areas, where the urban heat island effect may intensify heatwave conditions and worsen drought risks.
Afzal cautioned that temperatures across the country could remain 2ยฐC to 3ยฐC above normal, while Karachi may experience an even sharper increase of 3ยฐC to 4ยฐC above the usual levels, leading to discomfort for residents.
In light of these conditions, the PMD has advised the public to limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours and stay indoors as much as possible. The department will continue monitoring the situation and provide updates as needed.
