Sarah Pobereskin has expressed gratitude to Britain’s leading newspaper, The Telegraph, for issuing a series of unprecedented apologies and paying damages to her husband, Pakistani-American technology entrepreneur Zia Chishti, after falsely alleging his involvement in sexual misconduct.
Following a statement in the London High Court, The Telegraph formally apologized to Chishti for its allegations regarding his alleged misconduct toward Tatiana Spottiswoode, a former employee of Afiniti Limited.
Pobereskin stated that her husband’s legal victory against the publication reaffirmed that he had been unfairly accused.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Pobereskin—who holds degrees from Cambridge University and Harvard Business School—shared:
“The past three years have been incredibly challenging. As a professional woman with decades of experience, I understand the difficulties women face in the workplace. My husband and I firmly believe that everyone deserves a safe and respectful work environment. However, false accusations undermine that cause and make it harder for real victims to be believed.”
She commended Chishti for taking legal action to clear his name and expressed relief over The Telegraph’s acknowledgment of its mistake.
“These allegations caused us immense stress, especially as parents of two young children. We were put under tremendous pressure due to a deeply unjust situation. I now look forward to rebuilding our lives,” she added.
Zia Chishti is best known as the founder of Invisalign, which he led to a public listing on NASDAQ in 2001. He also founded The Resource Group and Afiniti Limited, both of which grew into global enterprises. At the time of his resignation from The Resource Group and Afiniti, he was leading a business group that employed thousands worldwide.
