Trump’s Ultimatum to Iran: Two Months to Strike a New Nuclear Deal

U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a two-month deadline for Iran to agree on a new nuclear deal, according to Axios. The ultimatum was conveyed in a letter to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Sources familiar with the letter indicated that the countdown could begin either upon its delivery or at the start of negotiations. If Iran rejects the proposal, the chances of military action from the U.S. or Israel targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities may rise.

Described as “tough,” the letter pushes for renewed negotiations while warning of consequences should Iran continue its nuclear advancements. Trump made it clear that he does not want prolonged discussions and set a firm two-month timeline for a resolution.

The message was delivered last week by UAE diplomat Anwar Gargash, coinciding with Khamenei’s public dismissal of talks, arguing they would not ease sanctions but rather “tighten the sanctions knot.”

Iran’s foreign ministry stated that Tehran is still evaluating the letter and will respond after completing its review.

Since returning to office in January, Trump has reinstated his “maximum pressure” strategy against Iran, aiming to curb its nuclear ambitions, despite Tehran’s repeated denials of pursuing nuclear weapons
