Iran, Russia, and China to Conduct Naval Drills in the Gulf of Oman

Iran, Russia, and China will hold joint naval exercises off Iran’s coast this week to enhance military cooperation.

The drills, set to begin Tuesday in the southeastern port of Chabahar on the Gulf of Oman, will include warships and support vessels from the three nations, along with units from Iran’s army and Revolutionary Guards. The exercises, held in the northern Indian Ocean, aim to bolster regional security and expand multilateral military collaboration.

Russia’s defense ministry confirmed that two corvettes and a tanker from its Pacific Fleet will take part, with training operations focusing on ship liberation, search-and-rescue missions, and live artillery exercises against sea and air targets.

China’s defense ministry stated that it will deploy a destroyer and a supply ship for the exercises.

Several other nations, including Pakistan, Azerbaijan, South Africa, Oman, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Iraq, the UAE, and Sri Lanka, will attend as observers.
