Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, announced an increase in the quarterly payment under the Benazir Kafaalat initiative, raising it to Rs 13,500.
She also revealed that 2025 has been designated for the ‘Benazir Hunarmand Programme,’ aimed at helping eligible individuals secure employment through skill development and training. This initiative seeks to empower beneficiaries by providing them with practical opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
Launched in July 2008, BISP remains one of Pakistan’s most significant social welfare programs, focusing on alleviating poverty and providing financial assistance to vulnerable segments of society. The program primarily benefits women, aiming to enhance their financial independence through unconditional cash transfers and various social protection measures.
To improve access to payments, the government has expanded the list of banks available for withdrawals. Beneficiaries can now access their quarterly payments through:
- Bank Al Falah
- Bank of Punjab
- Mobilink Microfinance (JazzCash)
- Telenor Microfinance Bank
- Habib Bank Limited
- HBL Microfinance
This expansion reduces wait times and makes it easier for families to access their funds.
