A Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) granted interim bail to Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, in connection with 32 cases on Saturday. The court allowed her bail in all cases, except those related to the November 24-27 protests, for which she was granted protection from arrest until January 13.
Bushra Bibi’s lawyer, Muhammad Faisal Malik, filed the bail applications, which were considered by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah. The court ruled to grant her bail in 32 separate cases, including those related to alleged involvement in protests following the events of November 2022.
Additionally, the court directed investigating officers in all 32 cases to submit their records for a detailed review. Judge Shah emphasized that Bushra Bibi would not be arrested in relation to the November protests until January 13, offering her some temporary relief amidst ongoing legal proceedings.
On the day of the hearing, special permission was granted for Bushra Bibi to bring her car onto the court premises, an unusual concession given her high-profile status. PTI leader Seemabia Tahir, along with other party members and her legal team, including Advocate Faisal Chaudhry, were present at the court.
Bushra Bibi’s legal team expressed confidence that the court’s decision would allow for a fair review of the cases. The next hearing is scheduled for January 13, during which the court will review the records submitted by the investigating officers.
In a separate development, judges from the anti-terrorism court are expected to visit Adiala Jail in the coming days to hear the case related to the attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ).
