Civil Disobedience Movement
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur stated on Tuesday that the civil disobedience movement will only begin after receiving instructions from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Gandapur emphasized his readiness to initiate the movement as soon as he receives directives from Khan.
He reiterated that the movement would be launched in strict accordance with Khan’s instructions, underlining his commitment to following the PTI leader’s lead.
Gandapur also expressed his frustration over the ongoing restrictions preventing him from meeting Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated. He revealed that despite his efforts to meet Khan at Adiala Jail, he was denied access. “I was told that I was not allowed to meet,” Gandapur said, highlighting the challenges he has faced in his attempts to connect with the PTI leader.
As the representative of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gandapur questioned the validity of such restrictions, stressing that, as an elected official, he should not require clearance to meet someone of Khan’s stature. “I am a representative of the entire province, and I do not need clearance from anyone. Do those who are using high-handed tactics have clearance?” Gandapur remarked, referring to the authorities who have placed such limitations on his meetings with Khan.
The KP CM made it clear that the civil disobedience movement would only proceed when Imran Khan decides it is time, emphasizing that the PTI founder’s decision would be binding. “The decision Imran Khan will take regarding the civil disobedience movement will be implemented,” Gandapur added. He assured that he would act promptly when Khan issues the order.
Earlier, in a separate legal matter, Gandapur appeared at the Peshawar High Court, where the court extended his protective bail until January 16.
This extension followed the submission of a federal government report detailing the numerous cases registered against him, including 32 cases in Islamabad and 33 in Punjab. The court issued an order preventing Gandapur’s arrest in these cases until the specified date.
The extension of the protective bail also applied to PTI leader Shibli Faraz, who is facing similar legal challenges. The Peshawar High Court directed Gandapur and Faraz to appear before the relevant courts to address the ongoing cases.
