Babar Azam Breaks Record for Fastest 11,000 T20 Runs

Babar Azam

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has etched his name in cricketing history by becoming the fastest batter to reach 11,000 runs in T20 cricket.

His latest feat reinforces his reputation as one of the format’s most accomplished players and an icon of consistency and brilliance.

Babar achieved this landmark in just 298 innings during a T20 match against South Africa. With his 11th run of the innings, he surpassed the previous record held by West Indies legend Chris Gayle, who took 314 innings to reach the same milestone.

This extraordinary accomplishment makes Babar the first cricketer to achieve 11,000 T20 runs in under 300 innings, setting a new benchmark for excellence in the shortest format of the game.

Renowned for his skill and adaptability, Babar Azam has been a record-breaking force in T20 cricket throughout his career.

Prior to this, he had already set records as the fastest player to score 7,000, 9,000, and 10,000 runs in T20s, further establishing himself as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s cricketing legacy.

His ability to maintain a high standard of performance across various leagues and international matches underscores his exceptional talent.

Babar is now the second Pakistani batter, after Shoaib Malik, and the 11th overall to surpass the 11,000-run mark in T20 cricket.

He joins an elite group of players that includes some of the biggest names in cricket, such as Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Virat Kohli, Alex Hales, and Jos Buttler.

In addition to his T20 achievements, Babar recently crossed 14,000 runs in international cricket, becoming only the fifth Pakistani batter to reach this milestone.

His consistent performances across formats not only highlight his class but also reflect his dedication and ability to evolve as a cricketer.

This latest record cements Babar Azam’s status as a modern-day great, inspiring countless young cricketers while contributing significantly to Pakistan’s cricketing legacy.
