30 Out of 35 Complaints Cleared by Supreme Judicial Council

Supreme Judicial Council

The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has made significant progress by resolving 30 of the 35 pending complaints under its review.

The council has issued directives regarding the five unresolved cases, seeking detailed responses from the judges and officials involved.

This marks a substantial effort in addressing longstanding judicial accountability issues and ensuring transparency within the judiciary.

In its latest meeting, the SJC also initiated an extensive review of the Judges’ Code of Conduct and the council’s procedural rules. This step is part of a broader effort to modernize and strengthen the framework governing judicial conduct in Pakistan.

Recognizing the need for reforms, the council has constituted a special committee tasked with proposing amendments to the existing regulations.

The committee, led by Justice Munib Akhtar, will focus on aligning the Judges’ Code of Conduct with contemporary legal and ethical standards. It will also evaluate the procedural rules to enhance efficiency and clarity in handling judicial complaints.

The move aims to bolster public confidence in the judiciary by reinforcing principles of accountability and integrity.

This development comes at a time when judicial reforms are increasingly demanded to ensure that the judiciary remains a pillar of justice and fairness.

By addressing pending complaints and initiating reforms, the SJC is signaling its commitment to upholding judicial standards and improving institutional processes.

The council’s actions also reflect a broader effort to ensure timely resolution of complaints against members of the judiciary. Such measures are essential for maintaining the credibility and integrity of Pakistan’s legal system.

As the SJC moves forward with these initiatives, the legal community and the public will closely monitor the impact of these reforms on the judiciary’s overall functioning.

The proactive approach taken by the SJC is a significant step toward strengthening judicial accountability and reinforcing trust in Pakistan’s legal framework.
