Army Chief Praises Gandapur’s Role in Security and Economic Discussions, Report Reveals

During a recent Apex Committee meeting, Army Chief General Asim Munir commended Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for his collaboration on critical national matters. The session, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, highlighted Gandapur’s contributions to discussions on security and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Gandapur voiced concerns regarding the treatment of Imran Khan and other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, advocating for Khan’s release from prison. He criticized the contrasting leniency shown to other political figures, such as former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who traveled abroad for medical treatment despite being convicted, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who resumed political protests following her legal relief.

Reaffirming his loyalty to Imran Khan, Gandapur stated, “Imran Khan is my leader and the leader of millions,” and emphasized the unjust restrictions faced by PTI leaders, particularly in Punjab. He urged the government to allow political activities and release PTI figures from incarceration.

The meeting reflected ongoing political tensions, underscoring challenges for PTI amid broader discussions on governance and national security.
