In a horrifying case, Daska police have uncovered shocking details about the brutal murder of a pregnant woman named Zara, allegedly carried out by her mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and other family members. The crime, reportedly fueled by jealousy and hatred, involved dismembering the victim’s body and disposing of the parts at different locations.
According to DSP Abid Rasheed, the victim’s mother-in-law, Sughran, orchestrated the murder with the help of her daughter Yasmin and grandson Abdullah. The primary motive was resentment towards Zara’s close relationship with her husband, Qadeer Ahmed, the only brother of five sisters. Sughran reportedly felt neglected by her son after his marriage, leading to growing animosity toward Zara.
On the night of the tragedy, Sughran allegedly suffocated Zara with a pillow while Yasmin and Abdullah restrained her. Zara, who was seven months pregnant, died of asphyxiation, claiming the lives of both the mother and her unborn child.
Forensic evidence, including DNA samples and fingerprints from the murder weapon—a pillow and a butcher’s knife—has been sent to Lahore for analysis. Meanwhile, Sughran, Yasmin, and Abdullah have been taken into custody and are under judicial remand.
The police have also detained a relative, Naveed, accused of facilitating the crime. Naveed reportedly received Rs10,000 via an online transaction from Sughran, summoning him from Lahore to Daska.
DSP Rasheed stated that the investigation is progressing steadily and emphasized the commitment to ensuring justice. He disclosed that crucial evidence, including the victim’s clothes and a charpoy, has been seized.
“The suspects acted out of jealousy and hatred, believing the victim had bewitched their son. This animosity led to this heinous crime,” Rasheed explained. “We are dedicated to securing exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.”
Authorities have assured swift legal action against all involved as the investigation continues.
