The alleged torture of actress Nargis has escalated, with medical reports confirming multiple injuries sustained by her. The report reveals that Nargis suffered severe injuries to her face, forehead, head, and arms, as well as a fractured nasal bone. Additionally, there are injuries around her right eye, indicating she was assaulted with a blunt instrument.
A violence case was filed at the Defense C police station on Friday. Nargis’s son has reportedly contacted the Canadian Embassy, seeking intervention and assistance for his mother. The complaint was registered by the actress, whose real name is Ghazala, alleging violence at the hands of her husband, Inspector Majid Bashir, stemming from a financial dispute.
The police filed a case against Bashir, charging him with torture, attempted robbery, and threats of murder at gunpoint. The First Information Report (FIR) states that Bashir allegedly attempted to forcibly seize cash and jewelry from Nargis while also trying to have a farmhouse transferred into his name.
The incident took place at the couple’s residence in Lahore, where Nargis claims her husband assaulted her with his service pistol, dragged her by the hair, and issued threats on her life. The FIR details that Bashir seeks to have the property transferred to himself, which prompts his violent behavior. Nargis claimed that Bashir struck her repeatedly with his official pistol, dragged her by her hair, and threatened to kill her, all in an attempt to coerce her into transferring property ownership.
On Friday, Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) Chairperson Hina Pervaiz Butt met with Nargis, assuring her of security and support. Butt condemned the assault, calling it “one of the most heinous crimes against women.” She stated that justice would be pursued, emphasizing that the Punjab government is committed to protecting women against violence.
Butt reiterated that the government considers violence against women a red line, as directed by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, and vowed to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
