The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a new fee structure for updating marital status on the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC), effective from October 2024. Pakistani nationals will now be charged Rs100 for this modification, categorized as an unprintable alteration.
Updating marital status on the CNIC is crucial, especially after marriage, as it enables citizens to access benefits like obtaining a computerized marriage certificate and a B-Form for their children. To request this update, men must submit required documents, including a marriage certificate (Nikahnama) and a copy of their spouse’s CNIC. NADRA retains the right to reject any request if provided details are found to be unsatisfactory.
This update is intended to streamline the process, ensuring citizens’ identity documents accurately reflect their current marital status.
