Shazia Riaz, a Pakistani woman who has lived in India since 1985 after marrying an Indian citizen, has been charged with allegedly forging Aadhaar and PAN cards, according to police reports on Monday.
PAN is a unique identification number issued to individuals and businesses for tax purposes. The Aadhaar number is a 12-digit unique identification number issued for all residents of India. A PAN card serves as a legal identity verification and photo ID for various purposes, such as obtaining a gas connection and opening a bank account. It is essential for banking activities and other financial operations, helping to combat fraud and money laundering.
Investigations by Jaisinghpura Khor SHO Rajesh Meena revealed that she created these documents through fraudulent means. Riaz, a mother of four, has been living with her husband’s family since moving to India. A case has been filed against her, and further inquiries are ongoing.
