PTI serves show-cause notices to Zain Qureshi and others over party misconduct

On Tuesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) issued show-cause notices to Zain Qureshi and several other prominent figures within the party, accusing them of violating party protocols. The notices were served by senior PTI leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi, who named Zain Qureshi, Riaz Fatyana, Aslam Ghumman, and Miqdad Ali Khan as recipients.

According to the notification, PTI leadership expressed concern over the deliberate breakdown of communication between these members and the party. The notice questioned, “Why was contact intentionally severed?” and demanded clarification on this matter.

The party’s official communication warned that the aforementioned leaders are required to provide a satisfactory explanation for their actions within seven days of receiving the notice. Failure to do so would result in the termination of their PTI membership, effectively ending their association with the party.

This move follows a broader internal crackdown within PTI aimed at addressing concerns about loyalty and discipline within its ranks. PTI has been experiencing growing internal divisions and is taking steps to ensure adherence to its code of conduct. The party leadership views the restoration of discipline as crucial, especially in light of ongoing political challenges and upcoming electoral contests.

The leaders who have been served the notices are prominent figures within PTI and have contributed significantly to its cause. However, their recent actions, particularly in relation to communication and coordination with the party, have raised red flags. The issuance of these notices is seen as a warning to other party members as well, underscoring PTI’s commitment to internal accountability.

As the seven-day deadline approaches, the responses from Qureshi and others will likely have significant implications for their future within PTI.
