Pakistan Navy Seizes $26 Million Worth of Hashish in Arabian Sea Operation

During a targeted operation in the North Arabian Sea, the Pakistan Navy successfully seized 1.3 tons of narcotics valued at approximately $26 million, as part of their ongoing efforts to disrupt illicit maritime activities. The operation, named “Himalayan Spirit,” was conducted by the Pakistan Navy ship PNS Zulfiqar, which is part of a combined task force.

Support for the operation came from the Pakistan Maritime Security Ship (PMSS) Kolachi, as well as US Navy and Coast Guard vessels operating in the vicinity. The PNS Zulfiqar successfully intercepted a vessel carrying the hashish, with aerial surveillance assistance from both the Pakistan Navy and the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group.

The navy highlighted this operation as a testament to Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in crucial maritime chokepoints. This seizure adds to a series of successful operations, including a June 2024 operation that resulted in the confiscation of 389 kilograms of drugs and a May 2023 operation where over 4,000 kilograms of hashish were seized.
