Human trafficking ring uncovered at Sialkot Airport

The FIA has filed a case against ten individuals, including six of its own officers, in connection with a troubling human trafficking operation uncovered at Sialkot Airport. The accused are alleged to have facilitated the travel of passengers attempting to reach Canada and Europe using fraudulent documents.

Among those charged are FIA sub-inspectors Sulaiman Liaquat, Imran Shaukat, and ASI Sajjad Ahmed, along with constables Faisal Nazir, Danish Ali, and Nadeem Mustafa. Additionally, two traffic assistants from Qatar Airways, Asif Masood and Osama Aslam, as well as private individuals Mohammad Irfan and Umar Raza, have also been implicated.

The FIR highlights a significant incident on December 14, 2023, when passenger Irfan received a double boarding pass for Milan from Qatar Airways staff member Asif Masood. Despite holding a passport later identified as fake due to photo alterations, Irfan was cleared by Sub-Inspector Sulaiman Liaquat and Constable Nadeem Mustafa during immigration checks. He was deported from Doha and returned to Sialkot Airport on December 16, where he allegedly received help from Constable Mustafa and ASI Ahmed to avoid detection.

In another case, passenger Arsalan Aslam attempted to travel from Sialkot to Montreal, Canada, using a counterfeit passport. He was cleared for departure by shift in-charge Imran Shaukat and Constable Danish Ali. After being deported from Doha, Aslam returned to Sialkot, where ASI Sajjad Ahmed and Constable Faisal Nazir reportedly altered his status to “Fake Pak Passport” to evade scrutiny.

An internal inquiry was initiated within the FIA, and following the substantiation of evidence, case number 687/24 was registered under the Immigration Act of 1979 and the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
