PTI invites Indian FM S. Jaishankar to join their protest

Barrister Saif, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has invited Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar to join their protest during appearances on two private channels.

He expressed a desire for Jaishankar to participate, stating, “We invite him to our protest for the restoration of the constitution. If India claims to uphold democracy, then Jaishankar should support our call for democracy in Pakistan.”

Saif presented a controversial argument, suggesting that Jaishankar’s involvement would strengthen Pakistan and improve relations with India.

However, this statement has drawn severe criticism on social media, with analysts labeling the invitation as an unusual attempt to invite instability into Pakistan.

Critics argue that seeking support from a historical rival reveals a deeper agenda behind the protests.

Experts contend that inviting an Indian official to participate in a domestic protest highlights PTI’s willingness to go to any lengths to achieve its goals.

In response to the backlash, PTI chairman Gohar Khan clarified the party’s stance, asserting that no foreigner, including the Indian foreign minister, was invited to the protest. He characterized Saif’s remarks as taken out of context and emphasized that PTI’s policy towards India has remained consistent throughout its 27-year history.

Gohar Khan reiterated, “Pakistan’s policy towards India has been the backbone of PTI’s approach.” He stressed that PTI’s struggle is focused internally, asserting that Jaishankar has no relevance to their efforts.

He emphasized that no foreign country should interfere in PTI’s political struggle, affirming the party’s commitment to peaceful protests as a constitutional right of Pakistanis.
