Pakistan Moving Forward: PM launched Pakistan’s first Green Euro Bond today To Build Mega Dams

From 1 billion to 10 billion trees across Pakistan by 2023.

While speaking on the launch of $ 500 million Green Eurobonds, Tuesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that Green Eurobonds are for building dams for Pakistan and it’s a welcome news for the entire nation.

Speaking to the audience, PM said that Pakistan had built dams 50 years ago and the last one was built in 1968.

“We are actively working on Bhasha and Mohmand Dams which is a clear good sign for Pakistan’s economy.”

He said.

PM Khan was the chief guest at launching ceremony. He laminated that Pakistan is now focusing on long term planning now. Since we do not have policy issues but implementation issues.

While mentioning the benefits of billion tree tsunami project, he said, we are now moving towards 10 billion plantation of trees. In KP, 1 billion trees had been planted since 2018 and till 2023, we are planning to plant 10 billion more trees across the country.

Khan also mentioned water which is another key issue of the country. He said that we are focusing on it now along with some light on single education system.

WAPDA is issuing Green Eurobond to raise 500 million dollars for financing of Diamar Bhasha and Mohmand Dams.

The Green Euro Bond is being issued on the basis of WAPDA’s stable financial position instead of state-guarantee.

The world’s largest financial institutions have shown extraordinary interest in Green Eurobond which is a sign of confidence in the stable financial position of Pakistan and WAPDA as well.

The extraordinary response to Green Euro in the world financial market has opened new avenues for financing big projects in Pakistan.
