Foreign Office establishes a special unit to assist Pakistanis stranded in Lebanon

As Lebanon braces for large-scale displacement due to intense Israeli attacks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated its Crisis Management Unit (CMU) to assist Pakistani nationals and their families affected by the crisis.

Following Israeli airstrikes, numerous Pakistani families found themselves stranded after flight operations were suspended. Stranded families shared their challenges highlighting difficulties in leaving Lebanon because of the closure of flights and the unavailability of land routes. They noted that the land route out of Lebanon is blocked due to safety concerns in Syria.

Since Monday, Beirut’s southern suburbs and various regions in south and east Lebanon have faced heavy bombardment, leading to over 700 fatalities and displacing hundreds of thousands, according to the country’s health ministry.

Foreign Office spokeswoman Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that both the ministry in Islamabad and the Pakistani embassy in Beirut are actively working to assist those affected.

She encouraged Pakistani nationals in need of help to contact the CMU at Islamabad’s landline number 051-9207887 or via email at [email protected].

Additionally, the Embassy of Pakistan in Beirut is available around the clock at the following contact details: Cell/WhatsApp numbers 00961-81669488 and 00961-81815104, and email: [email protected].

Earlier, Pakistan strongly condemned the escalating Israeli aggression in the Middle East, describing its attacks on civilian populations as alarming violations of international law. The Foreign Office spokesperson noted that Israeli forces have continuously targeted civilian areas in Lebanon, compromising its stability and security.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims and the people of Lebanon,” she added, emphasizing Pakistan’s solidarity with Lebanon and urging the United Nations Security Council to curb Israel’s actions and restore peace in the region.
