Imran Khan’s Imprisonment: A Year in Adiala Jail by Numbers

Imran Khan has spent a tumultuous year in Adiala Jail, marked by significant legal battles and limited personal interactions.

Over the past 365 days, he has faced more than 180 trial hearings, engaging in approximately 1,000 hours of court sessions.

During this time, he met with leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and his legal team over 100 times, reflecting his continued involvement in political matters despite his incarceration.

Khan endured 90 days in solitary confinement but reported maintaining good health, aside from a minor toothache. Throughout his imprisonment, he participated in over 180 media discussions and appeared before e-courts three times.

According to jail sources, he was convicted in three separate cases during this period.

Despite his extensive interactions with legal representatives and party officials, Khan was not permitted a private meeting with his wife, Bushra Bibi, throughout the entire year.

In response to allegations regarding his solitary confinement, the government submitted evidence to the Supreme Court, including photographs of Khan meeting with his legal team and a list of individuals who visited him.

Although Khan has been acquitted or granted bail in several cases, he remains incarcerated due to ongoing legal challenges, particularly the high-profile £190 million case.

Additionally, both he and Bushra are expected to face indictment in the Toshakhana-II case on October 2. The proceedings are being overseen by Islamabad Central Judge Shahrukh Arjumand, who has resumed hearings in a courtroom located within Adiala Jail, where both are currently held.
