Irfan Siddiqui: I Was Forcefully Removed from My Home During the PTI Era

Senator Irfan Siddiqui of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) has strongly condemned the recent disturbances in Parliament. During a recent Senate session led by Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Siddiqui emphasized the need to uphold the dignity and stature of the legislative institution, insisting that such incidents cannot be ignored or forgotten.

Recalling his own experiences with the previous PTI-led government, Irfan Siddiqui noted that he had been forcibly removed from his home at that time. “Even with the constitution in place, such actions occurred. They neither weaken the government nor impact Parliament itself,” he said.

Siddiqui supported the ongoing investigation initiated by the Speaker of the National Assembly into the recent disturbance and urged that those responsible be held accountable once the inquiry is complete. “These are incidents that leave a lasting impact,” he remarked.

He also expressed frustration that no PTI minister had condemned similar actions during their tenure, adding, “I wish a PTI minister had spoken out against such moves when they occurred.”

Furthermore, Siddiqui stressed the importance of fostering constructive discourse in political discussions and debates, referencing PTI’s past meetings. He cautioned against using disruptive tactics under the guise of revolution, stating, “Revolution is not achieved through sit-ins and insults. Such behavior only leads to destruction and chaos.”
