Lahore Police have made significant progress in the investigation of the murder of Javed Butt, who was the brother-in-law of Teefi Butt. Recent recovery of crucial CCTV footage has provided key evidence linking four suspects to the targeted killing. The footage reveals that the crime was meticulously planned, involving a combination of a rickshaw and a motorbike.
According to the police, the attack took place near the Forman Christian (FC) underpass when Javed Butt’s vehicle slowed down. As Butt’s vehicle decelerated, motorcyclists began firing at him, while a suspicious rickshaw was seen on the main road close to Butt’s residence in Huma Block, Iqbal Town. This rickshaw and motorcycle were integral to the execution of the attack.
Waseem Butt, who was out with his wife at the time, was followed by the motorcycle and rickshaw. The shooter on the motorcycle was identified as wearing a helmet, while the motorcyclist was not. After the shooting, the shooter and the motorcyclist separated. The shooter boarded the rickshaw and later switched to the motorcycle to escape.
The police have obtained several clips from CCTV footage that capture the movements and activities of the suspects. This evidence has been instrumental in narrowing down their identities and tracking their whereabouts. Law enforcement agencies are actively working to apprehend the suspects as the investigation continues. Authorities are hopeful that with the evidence at hand, they will soon bring those responsible for this heinous crime to justice.
