Faisal Vawda Claims Murad Saeed Took Shelter at Arshad Sharif’s Home Following His Murder

Senator Faisal Vawda has made several serious allegations regarding the assassination of journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya. Vawda claimed that Murad Saeed sought refuge at Sharif’s residence following the journalist’s death. During a special transmission on a private TV channel, Vawda suggested that the former Prime Minister Imran Khan had designated Saeed as his successor, although Vawda noted that Khan could not have anticipated Sharif’s murder.

Vawda also alleged that he had previously warned Khan about an assassination attempt, highlighting the absence of senior leadership during the attack, which he believed was intended to kill Khan. He further accused Arsalan Satti, a figure appointed by former DG ISI Faiz Hameed, of orchestrating Sharif’s departure from Dubai. Vawda criticized the delayed arrest of Faiz Hameed, claiming that the oppressive environment had improved following Hameed’s detention. He praised Chaudhry Nisar for initiating a key inquiry into the matter, which he claimed had negatively affected several careers.

Hinting at potential legislative changes, Vawda suggested that necessary numbers would be secured for the country’s benefit. He emphasized that any assembly decision would be made in the country’s interest and playfully responded to questions about legal changes, saying, “Do you think I’ve come to Islamabad just to have coffee?”

Vawda also highlighted the importance of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s support for the country and democracy, hinting at potential vacancies in certain constitutional offices.

Murad Saeed, a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), made his first public appearance in 15 months through a recorded video statement at a rally in Islamabad. In his message, Saeed stressed the importance of aligning social media activities with the support for Imran Khan and other detainees during the political turmoil. His recorded message resonated with the rally attendees, marking his return to the political scene after a lengthy absence.

Arshad Sharif, who had fled the country in August 2022 after facing sedition charges, was shot dead in Nairobi, Kenya, in October 2022. His wife, Javeria Siddique, confirmed his death via social media, stating, “I lost friend, husband, and my favourite journalist today. According to the police, he was shot in Kenya.” Sharif had previously moved from Dubai to Kenya due to threats to his life. His death shocked rights organizations, the media, and civil society, leading to calls for a thorough investigation and full disclosure of the facts.
