Indian General’s Jeep Captured in the Battle of Lahore Displayed as Trophy

The Jeep of Major General Niranjan Prasad is now proudly displayed at the Army Museum as a symbol of victory. During the Battle of Lahore, Indian forces launched a nighttime assault with the goal of capturing the city. Despite the efforts of the 15th Indian Infantry Division, the attack failed, leading to considerable frustration within the Indian High Command.

In response to this setback, Major General Niranjan Prasad was dispatched to the front lines to evaluate the situation. Unaware of the dire conditions, he proceeded toward the BRB Canal at Wagah. In a state of confusion, the general abandoned his post and fled, leaving behind his star plate and flagged jeep.

Pakistani forces promptly captured the abandoned vehicle, along with crucial maps and war plans. The jeep of Major General Prasad has been preserved and is now on exhibit at the Army Museum, serving as a testament to the successful defense against the Indian offensive and a symbol of Pakistani triumph.
