Atta Tarar: Faiz Hameed Linked to Adiala Jail Deputy Superintendent

Atta Tarar

Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar has made a startling revelation regarding former ISI chief Lieutenant General (R) Faiz Hameed, alleging that there was an ongoing line of communication between Hameed and the Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail.

This disclosure was made during a recent episode of “Nadeem Malik Live”, where Tarar detailed what he described as a concerning and potentially coordinated effort behind the scenes involving high-level officials.

According to Tarar, the communication between Faiz Hameed and the Adiala Jail official involved the exchange of messages, hinting at a possible strategic collaboration.

The minister suggested that these interactions were not merely coincidental but were part of a broader scheme, which may have had significant implications for the political landscape of Pakistan.

He emphasized that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) initially sought to distance himself from Faiz Hameed but has since moved to defend the former spy chief publicly.

Tarar’s allegations went further, claiming that there was a deliberate plan to keep Faiz Hameed in his position as ISI chief to support the PTI founder’s political aspirations.

The minister suggested that this strategy was rooted in a desire to ensure that Hameed, leveraging his powerful role, could sway crucial decisions, particularly those related to the military’s leadership.

Tarar alluded to a calculated move to maintain Hameed’s influence, particularly concerning the appointment of the next army chief, a decision of immense significance in Pakistan’s political and military circles.

He further elaborated that Imran Khan, the PTI leader, resisted efforts to remove Hameed from his post as Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence (DGISI).

According to Tarar, this resistance was motivated by the belief that Hameed’s continued presence in the role was essential for safeguarding the PTI leader’s political interests and maintaining his grip on power.

In his interview, Tarar also revealed that the military is currently conducting an internal investigation into the alleged communications between Faiz Hameed and the Adiala Jail official.

He indicated that the investigation is expected to unearth further details regarding the extent of this prison network and its connections to broader political machinations.

The minister pointed out that the Punjab government might soon be required to provide more information on this matter as the investigation progresses.

Tarar’s claims have sparked significant controversy, raising questions about the interplay between military officials and political figures in Pakistan.

The implications of these allegations, if proven true, could be far-reaching, potentially altering the narrative surrounding the relationships between key players in the country’s political and security apparatus.

As the investigation unfolds, all eyes will be on how these revelations might impact the ongoing power dynamics in Pakistan.
