Monal Restaurant Shuts Down Following Supreme Court Ruling

Monal Restaurant

Islamabad’s renowned Monal Restaurant has announced its closure following an order from the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The iconic eatery, located in the picturesque Margalla Hills National Park, will cease operations on September 11, 2024, as per the court’s directives.

In a heartfelt message posted on their Facebook page, Monal Restaurant expressed their deep gratitude to their loyal customers.

The post read: “It’s time to say Goodbye. As per Honorable SCP directions, we are closing on 11/09/2024.” The message further acknowledged the support from patrons who have been an integral part of the restaurant’s journey.

Monal Restaurant has been a beloved establishment since it first opened its doors in 2006. Over the years, it has served as a popular dining destination, offering a unique blend of cuisine and breathtaking views of the Margalla Hills.

The restaurant’s closure marks the end of a significant chapter in its history. The management conveyed their appreciation for the recognition and affection they received from their customers, stating, “Since 2006, it was an absolute pleasure for the Monal family to serve and showcase a positive image of Pakistan and its beautiful people.

This journey was full of success stories and emotions for the team affiliated with us, but now it’s time to say goodbye.”

The Supreme Court’s ruling on June 11 mandated the closure of all commercial establishments within national parks, including Monal Restaurant.

The decision reflects the court’s stance on preserving natural landscapes and ensuring that commercial activities do not encroach upon protected areas.

The court’s directive required all restaurants operating within these national parks to be completely dismantled within three months.

Although the ruling acknowledged the necessity of relocating affected businesses, it firmly stated that no commercial activities are permitted within the national park boundaries.

As Monal Restaurant prepares to close, it will leave behind a legacy of cherished memories and a significant impact on Islamabad’s dining scene.

The decision to shut down underscores the ongoing efforts to balance environmental conservation with urban development, highlighting the broader implications of such legal and regulatory measures.
