Tragic Attack: Pakistani Businessman Set on Fire in Canada

Pakistani Businessman

A Pakistani-Canadian businessman named Rahat Rao sustained critical injuries after being set on fire by an unidentified assailant in Surrey, British Columbia.

The shocking attack occurred on Friday, and the suspect has been described as a man approximately 24 or 25 years old.

Rahat Rao is a well-known figure within the Canadian community, recognized for his active involvement in protests related to the death of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Nijjar, a Khalistani terrorist, was shot and killed outside a gurdwara in Surrey in June 2022. His death was a significant event that sparked widespread controversy and diplomatic tensions.

Nijjar had been designated a terrorist by the Indian government, along with 40 other individuals.

His assassination led to an international diplomatic row when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged in September 2022 that Indian government agents might have been involved in Nijjar’s killing.

This claim by Trudeau created a diplomatic stir between India and Canada, with India strongly refuting the allegations.

The Indian government labeled the accusations as “absurd” and “motivated,” asserting that there was no basis for the claim.

In response to the allegations, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) launched an investigation into Nijjar’s death.

However, despite the high-profile nature of the case and the diplomatic fallout, the investigation into Nijjar’s killing remains ongoing, with no clear resolution as yet.

The motive behind the recent attack on Rahat Rao is still under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the reasons behind this brutal act.

As the RCMP delves deeper into the case, they are examining whether there is any connection between the attack on Rao and the broader context of tensions related to Nijjar’s death.

The incident has raised concerns within the Pakistani-Canadian community and beyond, highlighting the complex interplay of international politics and personal safety.

As authorities continue to investigate, the community remains on edge, seeking answers and justice for the violent attack on one of its prominent members.
