PTI Promises to Create ‘Grand Opposition Alliance’ to Challenge PML-N Government

As the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) gears up for a significant demonstration next week, senior party leader Asad Qaiser announced on Thursday that Imran Khan, the party’s imprisoned founder, has approved the formation of a “grand opposition alliance.” This new alliance will expand the existing Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Ayin-e-Pakistan (TTAP) platform.

During a media briefing outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, where Qaiser was joined by PTI Secretary-General Omar Ayub Khan and other party members, Qaiser revealed that PTI plans to unite all opposition parties in a concerted anti-government effort. The aim is to mount a strong challenge against the current administration.

Qaiser explained that the upcoming PTI rally in Swabi is intended to vocally demand the release of Imran Khan and other PTI leaders who are currently detained. He emphasized that the governance of the country should adhere strictly to the law and the Constitution.

Additionally, Qaiser criticized the government for the significant increase in electricity bills, describing the soaring costs as “unacceptable” for the already inflation-burdened populace. He highlighted the growing dissatisfaction among the masses over the financial strain caused by these inflated bills.

Furthermore, Qaiser expressed PTI’s support for the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) sit-in, which has been ongoing on Murree Road in Rawalpindi since July 26. This protest is against the sharp rise in electricity tariffs, underscoring PTI’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the public regarding escalating utility costs.
