Pakistan Rejects Modi’s ‘Belligerent Remarks’ and Highlights India’s Own ‘Terror Campaign’

Pakistan has dismissed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “belligerent remarks,” labeling them as “totally counter-productive” to resolving disputes between the two nations and reminding India of its own history of terrorism.

Earlier today, Modi accused Pakistan of attempting to maintain relevance through “terrorism” and “proxy war,” asserting that such tactics would fail.

In response, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that Modi’s comments cannot distract from the ongoing abuses by Indian forces in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). She criticized Modi’s rhetoric as undermining regional peace and obstructing the resolution of longstanding disputes, particularly the central issue of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Foreign Office emphasized that India’s statements cannot obscure its heavy-handed suppression of Kashmiri people’s struggle for their fundamental rights, including their right to self-determination.

Pakistan urged India to reflect on its own actions involving targeted assassinations, subversion, and terrorism in other countries, and advised the Modi administration against accusing others of terrorism.

The spokesperson also warned India against any acts of aggression, affirming Pakistan’s determination and capability to protect its sovereignty, as demonstrated by its strong response to India’s incursion in February 2019.

Despite these tensions, Pakistan remains dedicated to fostering peace and stability in the region.

Relations between India and Pakistan have been largely strained, with both nations downgrading diplomatic ties in August 2019 after India revoked IIOJK’s special status and divided it into two federally administered territories.
