In an unexpected twist, what was initially reported as a violent altercation involving stage actor and PML-N member Tahir Anjum outside the Punjab Assembly has been exposed as a carefully staged drama for personal gain.
The police investigation revealed that the incident, which involved PTI activist Aneela Riaz and PML-N’s Cultural Wing President Tahir Anjum, was orchestrated to further their individual agendas. Evidence indicates that both parties conspired to fabricate the scenario.
Investigators uncovered mobile phone records showing communication between Aneela Riaz and Tahir Anjum. CCTV footage also captured Aneela arriving at Anjum’s residence, where they were seen conspiring before the incident. The footage further showed her arriving at the Punjab Assembly in a rickshaw, suggesting a pre-planned collaboration.
Police reports confirm that the mobile records and CCTV footage link Riaz and Anjum, revealing their coordinated effort. It appears Aneela Riaz sought a reserved PTI seat, while Anjum aimed to bolster his position within the PML-N.
Adding another layer to the case, police noted that before the official complaint was filed, Tahir Anjum had expressed a willingness to forgive Aneela Riaz.
Earlier, Lahore police had arrested Aneela Riaz on charges of physically attacking Tahir Anjum outside the Punjab Assembly and tearing his clothes. The incident was initially reported by Anjum, who filed a complaint against Riaz and her unidentified accomplices.
The arrest occurred the day after the altercation, which reportedly took place while Anjum was passing by the PTI’s hunger strike camp outside the Punjab Assembly.
