JUI Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman Voices Concerns Over Anti-Terrorism Operations

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI), has expressed deep concerns regarding the impact of anti-terrorism operations on the lives of people, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His remarks came during a visit to offer condolences to the family of former senator Hidayatullah Shaheed, who recently passed away.

During his visit, Maulana Fazlur Rehman extended prayers for the deceased, asking Allah to grant forgiveness and elevate Hidayatullah Shaheed’s status. However, he also drew attention to the ongoing distress faced by the populace, emphasizing that security operations have exacerbated hardships for residents across the country, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“The life and property of people are in a dire state,” Maulana Fazlur Rehman remarked, noting the significant impact of anti-terrorism measures on civilian life. He criticized the current approach, stating, “People’s lives are being made miserable in the name of operations against terrorism.”

The JUI chief stressed the necessity for a more balanced strategy that ensures the security of citizens without unduly disrupting their daily lives. His comments reflect broader concerns within the community regarding the collateral effects of counter-terrorism efforts, calling for policies that prioritize both security and the well-being of the populace.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s recent visit and public statements have brought renewed attention to the ongoing debate surrounding the methods and consequences of anti-terrorism operations in Pakistan. This has further emphasized the critical need for the formulation of policies that not only effectively combat security threats but also prioritize the mitigation of civilian hardships.

The discussions sparked by Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s visit underscore the complex and multifaceted nature of the challenges faced in the pursuit of national security, shedding light on the pressing need for a balanced and comprehensive approach.
