Eight Soldiers Martyred, Ten Terrorists Killed in Bannu Cantonment Attack

Eight personnel from the Pakistan Army were martyred, and 10 terrorists were killed in a recent attack on Bannu Cantonment.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the armed forces, security forces thwarted a terrorist assault on Bannu Cantonment when 10 attackers attempted to breach its defenses on the morning of July 15.

The terrorists rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into one of the cantonment’s walls, but the forces successfully prevented their entry, resulting in the destruction of the wall.

Tragically, eight security personnel lost their lives in the attack. The martyrs included Naib Subedar Muhammad Shehzad, Hawaldar Zille Hussain, Havaldar Shehzad Ahmed, Lance Naik Sabz Ali, Sepoy Ashfaq Hussain, Sepoy Subhan Majeed, Sepoy Imtiaz Khan, and Sepoy Arsalan Aslam.

In response, security forces swiftly neutralized all 10 terrorists, averting further casualties. The ISPR praised the timely and effective actions of the armed forces, which helped save many lives during the incident.

The ISPR attributed this cowardly act to the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, known for its ongoing terrorist activities against Pakistan from Afghan territory. This group has a history of launching attacks on Pakistan from Afghanistan.

Pakistan has consistently raised concerns with the interim Afghan government regarding the use of Afghan soil by such terrorist groups and has urged them to prevent these continuous attacks. The country has also called for effective action against these elements from Afghan authorities.

Reiterating its commitment to combating terrorism, the ISPR emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces will continue to defend the nation and its people from all threats originating from Afghanistan. In light of this incident, measures to enhance security and counter-terrorism efforts will be intensified.
