KARACHI: Justice Shafi Siddiqui has officially taken the oath as the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC). The oath-taking ceremony took place on the premises of the SHC, with Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori administering the oath.
President Asif Ali Zardari approved Justice Shafi Siddiqui’s appointment under Article 175-A(13) of the Constitution. The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) had also unanimously recommended his elevation to the position of Chief Justice of the SHC to fill the vacancy left by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, who was elevated to the Supreme Court.
Born on August 12, 1965, Justice Siddiqui has a distinguished legal career. He was appointed as a judge of the SHC on March 20, 2012. His legal career began with his enrollment as an advocate of the subordinate judiciary in 1992 and the high court in 1994. He was further enrolled as an advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2008.
