TikTok has taken down 20 million video clips in Pakistan

In Islamabad, TikTok announced on Monday that it had taken action against more than 20 million videos in Pakistan during the first quarter of 2024 for violating its community guidelines.

According to TikTok’s Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for the period, approximately 93.9% of these videos were removed within 24 hours of being posted. Globally, the platform achieved a proactive removal rate of 99.8% during the same quarter.

The report emphasized TikTok’s ongoing commitment to fostering a secure and positive online environment, highlighting its dedication to transparency, safety, and inclusivity. It underscored the platform’s efforts to build trust and ensure a safe experience for its global community.

On a global scale, TikTok disclosed that proactive measures led to the removal of 166,997,307 videos, which accounted for approximately 0.9% of all videos uploaded to the platform during the quarter. Of these, 129,335,793 videos were identified and removed through automated detection technologies, while 6,042,287 videos were reinstated after further review.

Additionally, TikTok shared for the first time the number of comments removed and filtered using its comment safety tools, totaling 976,479,946 comments during the three-month period. The platform’s proactive approach extended to combating spam accounts and related content, implementing robust measures to prevent the proliferation of automated spam accounts.

The release of these enforcement statistics aligns with TikTok’s strategy to enhance transparency and accountability in its content moderation practices.

By actively addressing violations and implementing advanced detection technologies, TikTok aims to maintain a positive user experience and uphold its standards for content quality and safety globally, including in Pakistan.
