Punjab Government to Distribute 20,000 Bikes to Students, Prioritizing Women

Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar has announced a major initiative by the Punjab government to distribute bicycles to 20,000 students on July 10. This move, guided by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s directive, aims to enhance educational access and facilitate daily commuting for students across the province.

In a recent meeting chaired by Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan, the steering committee overseeing the bike distribution scheme convened to review progress. Transport Secretary Ahmed Javed Qazi briefed the committee on the implementation status, highlighting that students are being actively engaged through email, SMS, and telephone communications to ensure smooth distribution.

Minister Akbar emphasized the government’s commitment to inclusivity, noting that women have been given priority in this initiative. Recognizing the transportation challenges faced by many female students and workers, efforts are also underway to include working women in the bike distribution scheme.

The bike distribution program is part of a broader strategy by the Punjab government to support education and improve transportation infrastructure, especially in rural areas where access to schools can be challenging. By providing bicycles, the government aims to reduce commuting hardships and promote regular attendance among students.

Preparations for the distribution event on July 10 are in full swing, with anticipation building among students and communities across Punjab. The initiative has garnered positive feedback for its potential to empower students and enhance their educational opportunities.

This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing educational access and mobility for students in Punjab. As the government continues its efforts to support education and welfare initiatives, the bike distribution scheme stands out as a proactive measure aimed at fostering inclusive growth and development in the province.
