Karachi Mayor Declares Local Holiday for Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi

KARACHI: The Mayor of Karachi has officially announced a local holiday on June 29 to mark the annual Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA), a revered Sufi saint. The decision, conveyed through a notification from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Friday, emphasizes the city’s deep respect for the spiritual significance of this occasion.

As per the notification from the KMC, all offices under its jurisdiction, except for essential services offices, will be closed on June 29. Essential services offices will remain operational to ensure the city’s critical functions are maintained during this period.

The Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi holds great cultural and religious importance in Karachi, drawing pilgrims and devotees from various parts of Pakistan and beyond. It is a time when people gather to honor the saint’s life and teachings, fostering communal harmony and spiritual reflection among residents.

This local holiday allows Karachi’s residents to participate fully in the Urs celebrations, which include traditional rituals, prayers, and cultural activities that highlight the saint’s legacy of compassion and service to humanity.
