Pakistan’s IT Services Exports Yield $2.593 Billion in 10 Months

Pakistan’s revenue from Information Technology (IT) services to various countries totaled US $2.593 billion in the first ten months of fiscal year 2023-24, marking a 20.41% increase compared to the US $2.135 billion earned in the corresponding period of 2022-23, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

During this period, the export of computer services grew by 24.55%, reaching US $2.153 billion from US $1.729 billion last year. Among computer services, software consultancy exports increased by 10.80% to US $701.456 million from US $633.107 million. Similarly, hardware consultancy services saw a 19.24% rise to US $5.715 million from US $4.793 million. However, export earnings from repair and maintenance services decreased by 45.69% to US $1.500 million from US $2.762 million. Meanwhile, exports and imports of computer software services grew by 6.77% to US $522.909 million from US $489.737 million.

Information services exports surged by 105.90%, totaling US $8.730 million from US $4.240 million. Within this category, exports of news agency services rose by 167.58% to US $6.730 million from US $2.505 million, while other information-related services increased by 16.83% to US $2.027 million from US $1.735 million.

Exports of telecommunication services increased by 7.04% to US $430.590 million from US $402.260 million. Among these, exports of call centers services grew by 17.59% to US $212.467 million from US $180.682 million, whereas other telecommunication services saw a 1.56% decline to US $218.123 million from US $221.578 million.

Overall, these figures demonstrate significant growth in Pakistan’s IT and related services exports during the stated fiscal period.
