PTI and Government Fail to Engage in Dialogue, Says Rashid

Dialogue

ISLAMABAD: In a candid interview on Saturday, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed expressed his disappointment over the lack of dialogue between the PTI and the government, emphasizing that he sees no signs of successful communication and holds little hope for its revival.

The former federal minister criticized both parties for their failure to engage constructively, noting that initial talks were avoided and current conditions for dialogue remain unmet.

Looking ahead, Rashid predicted pivotal developments by August, suggesting that significant revelations may surface.

He characterized the current government as more focused on appearances than substance, contrasting Nawaz Sharif’s leadership favorably over Shehbaz Sharif’s, whom he accused of minimal involvement beyond formalities.

Reflecting on past political maneuvers, Rashid recalled the events surrounding the alleged London Plan in 2014, involving interactions between Tahir ul Qadri, PTI’s founder, and others.

He claimed prior knowledge of the PTI government’s impending exit, attributing insights to his connections within MQM.

Discussing internal dynamics within PTI, Rashid alleged General Qamar Bajwa’s role in the government’s downfall, citing personal observations and interactions with political figures.

He asserted his own political acumen, asserting that his decisions and insights into Pakistani politics have been validated over time.

Regarding personal matters, Rashid discussed the decline in visitors to his Lal Haveli residence following health issues and expressed reluctance to visit Adiala Jail due to strained relations with PTI’s new leadership.

He criticized unethical statements made against Bushra Bibi and emphasized the importance of truthfulness in public discourse.

Rashid reflected on his enduring relationship with PTI’s founder, expressing disappointment over perceived neglect despite his longstanding support.

He acknowledged the complexities of political alliances and his continued soft spot for PTI’s founder, despite recent grievances.

In closing, Rashid addressed allegations against him and underscored his satisfaction with his moral standing and public respect.

He criticized PTI members who fled the country and emphasized the ethical standards he upholds in political and personal affairs.
