In a brazen robbery near Kamran Chowrangi in the Gulistan-e-Johar area of Karachi, a truck carrying sacrificial goats fell victim to criminals, as reported by local authorities.
According to police sources, the incident unfolded when four suspects on a motorcycle approached the truck, which was transporting a cargo of at least 30 sacrificial goats. Two of the assailants forcibly removed the driver from the vehicle at gunpoint before absconding with the truck.
Abdul Manan, the trader affected by the robbery, lamented that the goats were en route from Hyderabad to Gulistan-e-Johar when the incident occurred.
Promptly responding to the situation, law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into the matter following the trader’s filing of a first information report (FIR).
The timing of this criminal act is particularly distressing as it comes just days before Eid ul Adha, a significant religious festival observed by Muslims globally, wherein they traditionally sacrifice cattle, including goats, cows, bulls, and camels.
These types of robberies appear to be on the rise as the annual celebration approaches, with individuals acquiring sacrificial animals for the occasion. Regrettably, this incident is not an isolated case this year.
Recently, Lahore witnessed two similar incidents where citizens lost their sacrificial goats to armed assailants. In the Samanabad neighborhood of Lahore, thieves forcibly took two goats from a young boy before fleeing the scene.
In another incident in Nishtar Colony, Lahore, a group of muggers seized a goat from a citizen, leading to the swift arrest of one culprit by the police, while the other managed to evade capture.
