KP CM Gandapur Issues Warning to Centre, Cites ‘1971 Tragedy’

1971 Tragedy

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has issued a stark warning to the ruling coalition, drawing parallels to the tragic events of 1971 when East Pakistan seceded from the West, resulting in the birth of Bangladesh.

Speaking at a party rally in Swat, KP, Gandapur expressed concern that history might repeat itself if constitutional violations continue unchecked.

Addressing the rally attendees, Gandapur emphasized the repercussions of past mistakes, referencing the separation of East Pakistan in 1971 and the subsequent execution of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was blamed for the country’s disintegration.

He cautioned against repeating similar errors, particularly for the sake of political dynasties, and stressed the detrimental impact on the nation as a whole.

Gandapur underscored the importance of upholding constitutional principles and ensuring that individuals do not undermine the country’s institutions.

He criticized the ruling coalition, alleging that they lacked the popular mandate and capability to govern effectively.

The KP Chief Minister challenged the federal government to impose taxes on the province, asserting that he would vehemently oppose any such move.

He also demanded transparency regarding the utilization of tax revenue and emphasized the need for accountability in governance.

Furthermore, Gandapur reiterated the fundamental role of the Constitution in governing the country and warned against its violation.

He emphasized that those who flout constitutional norms would face legal consequences, including the possibility of capital punishment.

The rally showcased a significant gathering of supporters, reflecting the ongoing political tensions between the ruling coalition and the opposition.

Gandapur’s remarks highlighted the deep-seated concerns regarding governance, accountability, and constitutional integrity in Pakistan’s political landscape.

Overall, Gandapur’s speech underscored the urgent need for adherence to constitutional principles and accountability in governance to prevent history from repeating itself and ensure the stability and prosperity of the nation.
