In an effort to protect people from scams, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Rubina Khalid on Saturday advised beneficiaries to trust only messages received from the project’s official number, which is “8171”.
She emphasized that any messages from other numbers should be considered fraudulent and are likely used by scammers to deceive innocent people.
During her visit to BISP payment centers in Peshawar, Khalid interacted with women and reiterated the importance of visiting designated payment centers to collect their quarterly stipends.
She warned beneficiaries not to trust messages from any number other than 8171. Khalid also highlighted that the total amount of the quarterly tranche issued under the Benazir Kafaalat program is Rs 10,500.
She advised the women to count and receive their full amount and to always request a bank receipt for confirmation.
Khalid urged beneficiaries to report any deductions or abusive behavior by the staff to the BISP helpline at 080026477. She assured that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty of such misconduct.
In her visit to the payment centers established at Tamash Stadium and the UC20 office in Peshawar, Khalid reviewed the payment disbursement process and inspected the facilities provided to the deserving women.
She instructed the staff to prioritize payments to elderly women and those with young children to ensure they receive timely assistance.
The chairperson stressed the importance of informing deserving women about their entitled amount when issuing tokens. She also emphasized the need for cleanliness in the offices and improving arrangements for the beneficiaries.
Khalid insisted that the women be treated with respect and courtesy, warning that any misbehavior would not be tolerated.
Addressing the staff, Rubina Khalid urged them to perform their duties with honesty and integrity. She highlighted the significance of their role in ensuring that the support reaches those who need it the most and that they should work diligently to uphold the trust placed in them by the beneficiaries and the organization.
Khalid’s visit and her interaction with the beneficiaries underline the BISP’s commitment to protecting the rights of its beneficiaries and ensuring that the aid reaches them without any hindrance.
The emphasis on using the official number 8171 for communication is part of a broader effort to safeguard against fraudulent activities that target the most vulnerable segments of the population.
