Railway Fares Reduced by More Than 50%

Railway Fares

In response to the recent decline in diesel prices, the Pakistan Railways Department has taken a commendable step by announcing a substantial reduction in train fares across various classes.

This decision aims to alleviate the financial burden on passengers and make rail travel more accessible to all segments of society.

The official notification regarding the fare reduction has been promptly issued and is now in effect, providing immediate relief to travellers.

The fare reduction spans train journeys ranging from one to 200 kilometres for all classes, catering particularly to passengers traveling shorter distances.

Notably, the economy and AC classes witness the most significant reductions, ensuring that passengers across different classes benefit from the initiative.

In the economy class, fares on select routes have been slashed by up to 54%, marking a considerable decrease in travel expenses.

For instance, the minimum fare for the economy class on the Lahore to Rawalpindi route has been notably reduced from Rs250 to Rs100.

Similarly, passengers boarding the Khyber Mail, covering distances from 1km to 130km, will now enjoy a reduced fare of Rs100, down from the previous Rs250.

AC class passengers will also experience substantial savings, with fares slashed by 40% across various routes, enhancing affordability and accessibility for travellers.

This move is a significant relief for both daily commuters and occasional travellers, who will benefit from the lowered cost of train travel.

By passing on the benefits of decreased fuel costs to the public, the Railways Department underscores its commitment to serving the needs of passengers and fostering inclusive transportation solutions.

The implementation of the new fares commenced on Tuesday, as confirmed by railway authorities in Lahore.

To access more detailed information about specific fare reductions and plan their journeys accordingly, passengers are encouraged to visit the official Railways website.

Overall, this initiative reflects the Railways Department’s dedication to prioritizing passenger welfare and promoting sustainable and accessible transportation options across Pakistan.
