Mohsin Naqvi
After the shocking revelations of property leaks under the “Dubai Unlocked” project, Interior Minister Senator Mohsin Naqvi addressed the media in Lahore, asserting that all his properties, owned jointly with his wife for over a decade, had been “declared” with relevant authorities, implying nothing new in the leaked records.
Naqvi, who holds various portfolios in the government, including Minister for Narcotics Control and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, disclosed that his wife’s property ownership extended beyond Dubai to the United Kingdom (UK) for the same duration.
Responding to the Dubai leaks that implicated several prominent Pakistani figures, Naqvi criticized the media’s role, cautioning against creating false impressions of illegal property ownership or non-disclosure.
The leaked data, part of the OCCRP’s Dubai Unlocked project, exposed numerous Pakistanis, including retired military officials, bankers, bureaucrats, and others, owning properties in upscale Dubai areas.
Naqvi clarified his property ownership predates his public office, emphasizing that the records could be easily accessed via his submissions to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Denouncing the insinuations arising from the leaks, Naqvi defended the legality and declaration of his properties, dismissing accusations of unknown income sources.
He defended his right to invest domestically or internationally and decried the intrusion into his private life, branding the allegations of illegitimate earnings as baseless.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the selective targeting of personalities in the report, Naqvi demanded an inquiry into undeclared offshore assets and illicit possessions.
Addressing other issues, Naqvi dismissed the threat by KP CM Gandapur to seize state-owned installations, emphasizing a peaceful resolution to disputes.
He also highlighted the allocation of funds to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and refuted criticism regarding his non-visitation, citing constitutional provisions.
In conclusion, Naqvi reiterated his commitment to serving with positivity despite facing criticism, reaffirming his dedication to public service.
