ISLAMABAD: Pakistan observed the 78th death anniversary of Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah today (Sept 11) with respect and solemnity.
A special Quran recitation and Fateha ceremony took place at Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum in Karachi to commemorate the occasion.
Meanwhile, educational institutions and political, social and cultural organizations arranged programmes highlighting Jinnah’s life, leadership and struggle for Pakistan.
President, PM pay tribute
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid rich tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
In separate messages, they praised his visionary leadership, constitutional struggle and tireless efforts for the rights of Muslims in the subcontinent.
President Zardari said Jinnah’s principles of unity, discipline, equality before law, constitutional continuity and democratic values remain vital for addressing national challenges.
He urged people, particularly young Pakistanis, to follow Jinnah’s courage, determination and confidence while working for a peaceful and prosperous country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz said the best tribute to Jinnah’s legacy would be collective efforts to strengthen national unity, social harmony and economic stability.
He said Pakistan must reflect the vision, ideals and principles of its founding leader for future generations.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister said Jinnah gave the nation an ideology, political awareness and a sovereign state through his historic struggle. He said Jinnah led Muslims out of political subjugation and guided them towards an independent homeland.
Naqvi said Jinnah’s exceptional leadership brought Pakistan onto the world map as an independent country. He also praised Jinnah’s character, honesty, determination and commitment despite serious illness and physical weakness.
