Pakistanโs telecom sector has taken a significant step forward as 5G compatibility expands across major smartphone brands. Recently, Zong and Jazz confirmed through their official platforms that several smartphones can now access 5G networks in the country. This development marks progress, although availability still varies by carrier and device.
Zong Leads with Wider Device Compatibility
Zong currently offers the most extensive 5G support, especially for Apple devices. All iPhones ะฝะฐัะธะฝะฐั with the iPhone 12 series up to newer generationsโincluding iPhone 17 models, iPhone SE, and iPhone Airโcan access 5G on its network. In addition, Zong supports a broad range of Samsung smartphones. These include Galaxy S-series devices from S20 through S25, alongside multiple A-series and M-series models.
However, some listed Samsung devices raise questions, as certain older or lesser-known models may lack actual 5G hardware. Even so, Zongโs compatibility list remains the most comprehensive among local carriers.
Jazz Moves Gradually While Ufone Prepares
Meanwhile, Jazz has taken a more limited approach. It currently supports select Samsung models, including Galaxy A55, A57, A37, and the flagship S26 lineup. In contrast, iPhones have not yet received full 5G support on Jazz. The company noted that future compatibility depends on software updates and carrier settings from Apple.
At the same time, Ufone has secured regulatory approval to launch 5G services. However, it has not announced a rollout timeline or confirmed compatible devices yet. Therefore, while momentum builds, full nationwide 5G adoption still requires further coordination.
