September 2026 is set to become one of the busiest smartphone launch months in recent years, with more than 20 devices expected from Apple, Xiaomi, Huawei, Vivo, Oppo, Honor, iQOO and other manufacturers.
Apple will hold its event on September 9, where reports suggest it will introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and its first foldable iPhone. The Pro models could feature Apple’s 2nm A20 Pro processor, 12GB RAM and C2 modem.
Meanwhile, the foldable iPhone could offer a 7.8-inch internal display, 5.3-inch cover screen and titanium-aluminium construction.
Huawei and Xiaomi Prepare Major September Launches
Huawei has scheduled its Mate XT2 tri-fold launch for September 7. The device could feature a Kirin 9050 Pro processor, battery exceeding 6,000mAh and redesigned hinge.
Moreover, Huawei is expected to introduce its Mate 90 series separately, with higher-end models reportedly offering large batteries and advanced telephoto cameras.
Xiaomi could launch its Xiaomi 18 Fold early in September before introducing the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6-powered Xiaomi 18 series later in the month.
Vivo, Oppo, Honor and iQOO Join Flagship Race
Vivo has confirmed a September Chinese launch for its X500 series, with upgraded cameras and Dimensity 9600-series processors expected.
Additionally, Oppo could unveil its Find X10 lineup, while iQOO is reportedly preparing its performance-focused iQOO 16 series with a 165Hz display and upgraded cameras.
Honor has confirmed a September 28 launch for the Magic9 series in Beijing. The company is expected to emphasise advanced video capabilities through its ARRI collaboration.
Although many devices will initially remain China-exclusive, several manufacturers are preparing subsequent international releases, making September an unusually competitive month for the global smartphone industry.
