At least 19 militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan, security sources said. However, 11 security personnel also embraced martyrdom during the operation. Moreover, forces targeted militants operating along the N-25 highway.
Security sources said the operation took place between Jhao Cross and Kararo. The militants were reportedly extorting money from passengers and local residents.
Security Forces Target Militants On N-25 Highway
According to security sources, the operation focused on militants allegedly disrupting public safety. Officials said security forces acted after receiving intelligence about their activities.
The sources vowed to protect lives, property, and highway security across Balochistan. Furthermore, they said every attempt to undermine peace would receive a strong response.
The operation followed another deadly attack in Balochistan’s Ziarat district. Armed assailants reportedly stormed a police checkpoint in the Mangi area late Monday.
Recent Violence Raises Security Concerns
According to police, the attackers martyred nine police personnel during the assault. They also abducted five officers after a gun battle, officials said.
Authorities said Pakistan has witnessed increased militant attacks since 2021. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have remained the most affected provinces.
In response, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq against suspected militant hideouts across the border. Officials said the operation killed numerous militants and injured hundreds more.
Border tensions also intensified after attacks on Pakistani border posts in October 2025. Despite several rounds of talks, Islamabad and Kabul have not reached an agreement. Pakistan maintains that Afghan authorities have not taken effective action against militant groups operating from Afghan territory.
