As Eid ul Adha draws near, a massive bull named “JF-17 Thunder” has become the centre of attention in Liaquat Colony, Hyderabad. Weighing an incredible 1,600 kilograms, the bull was sold for Rs5 million, sparking fascination and admiration among locals and visitors alike.
Crowds have flocked to see the majestic animal, many eager to take selfies with what has become a symbol of this year’s sacrificial celebrations.
The bull’s former owner, cattle trader Shahrukh, bid farewell to JF-17 Thunder with a grand procession, celebrating the sale in true festive style.
The farewell featured traditional decorations, music, and entertainment, as the buyer’s entourage joined in the lively send-off. In a vibrant display of cultural hospitality, garlands of currency notes and flowers were exchanged, along with the iconic Sindhi ajrak, symbolising mutual respect and festivity.
The sale underscores the cultural and economic significance of sacrificial animals during Eid ul Adha, where premium livestock often fetch extraordinary prices. Yet, religious scholars remind the public that beyond the spectacle, the true spirit of Eid lies in sincerity, humility, and devotion to Allah.
It is not the size or price of the animal, they stress, but the intention behind the sacrifice that earns acceptance in the eyes of the Almighty.
