Fifteen corruption references have returned to NAB courts following a Sindh High Court ruling. The cases had previously moved from accountability courts to anti-corruption courts.
The accountability court has started proceedings to revive the references. The NAB prosecutor requested the court to restore the cases following the SHC decision.
SHC Orders Return Of Corruption Cases
The SHC overturned the decision that transferred the cases to anti-corruption courts. It also ordered authorities to return all 15 references to NAB courts.
Following the ruling, the accountability court issued notices to the accused. The court also summoned them to appear during the proceedings.
Several former government officials face allegations linked to land allotments and corruption. Balochistan Minister Ali Hassan Brohi also appears among those nominated in the cases.
Former Officials Receive Court Notices
The court issued notices to former Sindh chief secretary Siddiq Memon. He previously served as a member of the Land Utilisation department.
Former Malir Deputy Commissioner Qazi Jan Muhammad and District Revenue Officer Ijaz Hussain also received notices. Former Additional Secretary Abdul Qadir Memon and Section Officer Ghulam Mustafa were summoned.
Treasury officials Muhammad Musa Kazmi and Abdul Latif Khoso also received court notices. Revenue officials Nisar Ahmed Wagan and Ali Asghar Mendhro were also summoned.
The court further issued notices to former Mukhtiarkar Iqbal Awan and Muhammad Hanif. Builders Javed Iqbal and Waseem Ahmed Sheikh were also included.
Several other revenue officials will appear as proceedings continue before the NAB court. The court will now proceed with the revived corruption references according to law.
